Gospel High to face Nasinu in All-Southern U15 Vodafone Fiji Rugby League Final

Gospel High School and Nasinu Secondary will meet in the Under-15 final of the Vodafone Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League after contrasting semi-final wins in Lautoka yesterday. Gospel High edged Lautoka Central 10-6 in a tense, low-scoring affair, while Nasinu stamped their authority in the second semi-final with a 16-0 shutout over RKS Eels.

Gospel High’s narrow victory was built on discipline and a marked improvement in attack, according to head coach Isimeli Koroi. “We have played an awesome game. We worked on our attack and the result has shown it,” Koroi said, praising his players for breaking down a determined Lautoka Central defence and keeping composure when the match tightened late. The 10-6 scoreline reflected how closely matched the two sides were, with Gospel’s ability to convert opportunities edging them through.

Koroi was quick to temper celebration, noting the quick turnaround to prepare for the final. “Now it’s back to the drawing board and we plan for next week,” he added, signalling that Gospel High will use the short interval to sharpen combinations and game plans ahead of the decider.

Nasinu’s path to the final was more emphatic. Their 16-0 victory over the RKS Eels showcased a balanced team performance, with a defensive display that kept the Eels scoreless and an attack that capitalised on space and turnovers. The shutout will give Nasinu confidence heading into a final that now pits Gospel’s resilience against Nasinu’s apparent control at both ends of the field.

The clash sets up an all-southern final in the U15 grade, promising a competitive decider as both schools chase the Vodafone Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League crown. Gospel High will look to build on the momentum of a hard-fought semi, while Nasinu will aim to maintain the form and balance that produced a convincing semi-final result.

Officials have yet to confirm the final’s venue and kick-off time, but both teams have indicated preparations will intensify over the coming days. With Gospel High’s recent attacking gains and Nasinu’s defensive solidity, the final is shaping up to be a tactical battle as much as a contest of skill.
