Ravikash Chand, a gold medallist from the University of Fiji School of Business and Economics, recently celebrated his graduation with a Master of Commerce in Accounting at the university’s campus in Saweni, Lautoka. The 33-year-old, who teaches at Pandit Vishnu Deo Memorial College, expressed profound gratitude for his elderly parents who traveled from Labasa to witness his achievement.

Mr. Chand received the gold medal for being an exceptional student in his program, recognizing his hard work and dedication. Reflecting on his family’s sacrifices, he acknowledged that they come from humble beginnings, with his father working as a laborer to support his education. “My father used to cut sugarcane to support my education, and his sacrifices helped me achieve my diploma in teaching. Their struggles continue to inspire me to excel in both my career and my education,” he shared.

As the eldest in his family, Mr. Chand strives to set a positive example for his siblings, emphasizing that one can overcome challenges regardless of their background. He started his teaching career in 2012 at All Saints Secondary School in Labasa and is now poised to pursue opportunities in higher education thanks to his master’s degree. Mr. Chand attributed his success to hard work and effective time management, balancing his family life, work, and studies.
