Courts in the Western Division will be closed until further notice due to heavy rainfall and flooding affecting the region. Chief Registrar Tomasi Bainivalu confirmed the decision, emphasizing that it was made with the safety of court staff and the public in mind.

In a statement regarding the closure, Mr. Bainivalu noted, “Closure of Western Division Courts due to Adverse Weather Conditions. Due to heavy rainfall and ongoing flooding in the Western Division, all Courts in the Western Division will remain closed on Monday, 2nd March 2026.” He indicated that the decision follows reports of deteriorating weather conditions across the area.

“This precautionary measure is vital to ensure the well-being of court staff and users, given the latest updates on adverse weather,” he added. Mr. Bainivalu reassured that court operations would resume as soon as the weather improves and it is deemed safe to reopen the facilities.

He expressed gratitude to the public for their understanding and cooperation during this challenging time, stating, “We thank the public for their patience. Please stay safe.” This proactive approach demonstrates a commitment to prioritizing safety amid natural adversities, reminding everyone of the importance of community support during such disruptions.
