A man who allegedly threatened the Fiji Police Force with gun violence on social media was among five individuals further remanded by the Rakiraki Magistrate’s Court following a significant cocaine bust in Vatia, Tavua last month. Sunia Kobululevu has been charged with illegal transportation, transfer, and storage of 2.6445 tonnes of cocaine, along with other illicit drugs.

During the proceedings, Magistrate Timoci Qalinauci remanded Kobululevu alongside Norman Fisher, who has previously been identified as a State witness in a related drug case involving Justin Ho. The court also remanded Manasa Saladrau, Trevis Cheer, and Anaseini Lisa Kinikinilau Rokolati, all facing various charges including conspiracy.

In addition to conspiracy, Kobululevu is charged with criminal intimidation after allegedly making threats of gun violence via social media on January 28, which reportedly aimed to instill fear within the community. Meanwhile, Saladrau and Rokolati face charges related to the unlawful possession of illicit drugs, with authorities having found 0.8122 grams of methamphetamine in their possession. Saladrau is additionally charged with the destruction of evidence after he purportedly damaged a mobile phone to hinder court proceedings.

The court case has been adjourned until February 27 and will be transferred to the High Court in Ba, where 11 other accused individuals are scheduled to appear. This significant development in drug-related offenses highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat drug trafficking and ensure public safety.
