Tourism Fiji, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, has revealed that the highly anticipated Tourism Super Week will take place from May 5 to May 9. This event promises a week-long series of capacity-building programs designed to empower stakeholders within the tourism industry, particularly focusing on micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Salaseini Daunabuna, the permanent secretary for the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, expressed the importance of partnerships and initiatives like the Tourism Super Week, stating, “In many ways, we are all ambassadors of Fiji — and tourism by extension.” She highlighted the goal of uniting the industry to enhance the art of tour guiding across its various dimensions.

Brent Hill, CEO of Tourism Fiji, conveyed enthusiasm for the event, emphasizing that it would offer MSMEs critical knowledge and practical skills essential for business enhancement. Expert-led workshops and networking sessions will serve as valuable resources for tourism businesses, ensuring they can adapt to global trends and sustain growth in a changing travel landscape.

A hallmark of this year’s Tourism Super Week is a two-day tour guide training session aimed at enhancing the skills of local tour guides. This initiative is oriented towards empowering guides to deliver exceptional visitor experiences, thus ensuring competitiveness in the global tourism marketplace.

Tourism Fiji’s statement confirmed that this annual event will feature expert-led workshops, panel discussions, and hands-on training sessions geared towards providing MSMEs with the tools required for immediate application. Learning about the latest tourism trends and developing practical skills will be pivotal to their success.

The optimism surrounding the event aligns with broader efforts to nurture Fiji’s tourism environment and support local businesses. Previous initiatives, such as the introduction of the Pilot Tourism Micro and Small Enterprise Fund, illustrate a continuous commitment to building a resilient tourism sector by addressing financial access difficulties for small enterprises.

With a strong foundation for empowering local businesses and a commitment to sustainable growth practices, Fiji’s tourism industry is poised for continued success. Emphasizing collaboration and education, this event marks a promising stride toward fostering an enriched tourism sector that thrives amidst global challenges. Overall, such initiatives not only foster business growth but also enhance the cultural and community well-being of Fiji.
