Fiji’s Northern Division Faces Travel Chaos Amid Severe Flooding and Road Closures

Several roads across the Northern Division of Fiji are currently closed due to significant flooding and fallen trees, impacting local travel and access. The Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) has dispatched teams to clear debris and address the hazardous conditions on the roads.

The following routes are reported closed due to fallen trees:
– Sevaci-Korotasere Road in Vaturova
– Bucalevu Road in Navakaka
– Napuka Road in Savusavu
– South Cape Road in Navakawau, Taveuni
– Vunivesi Road in Savusavu, which is additionally obstructed by a fallen power line.

In terms of flooding, the affected areas include several crossings, such as:
– Qawa Crossing
– Vaturamulo Splash Crossing, Balawaviki, Vaturova
– Bucalevu Low Level Crossing, Navakaka
– Vuniyalayala Low Level Crossing, Siberia, Labasa
– Vunivutu Junction, Wainikoro Rd, Labasa
– Batinikama Crossing, Labasa
– Nawi Crossing, Dakuniba Rd, Savusavu
– Bagata Low Level Crossing, Bagata Rd, Savusavu
– Waivunia Low Level Crossing, Waivunia Rd, Savusavu
– Banikea Kavula Crossing, Bua
– Valebasoga Rd at Yadrata Junction
– Tavoro Waterfall Bouma Crossing, North Coastal Rd, Taveuni

Drivers are advised to exercise extreme caution while navigating the area and strictly adhere to all road closure warnings.
