Fiji’s judiciary has officially welcomed Ms. Vinaina Diroiroi as its new Resident Magistrate following her ceremonial swearing-in before President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu at State House. The event took place today in the presence of key judicial figures, including Chief Justice Salesi Temo, Chief Registrar Tomasi Bainivalu, and Acting Chief Magistrate Josaia Waqaivolavola.
Ms. Diroiroi took both the Oath of Allegiance and the Oath of Due Execution of Judicial Office. With ten years of legal experience in both public and private sectors, she most recently contributed her expertise at the Legal Risk and Compliance Unit of Fiji Ports Corporation Ltd and its subsidiary, Fiji Ships and Heavy Industries Ltd. Her previous role at the Legal Aid Commission saw her rise to Officer-in-Charge of the Lautoka office, successfully representing clients across civil, criminal, and family law matters.
Educationally, Ms. Diroiroi holds a Master’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy from the University of Fiji, alongside a Diploma in Legislative Drafting from the University of the South Pacific (USP), and a Bachelor of Law with a Diploma in Legal Practice also from USP.
Her appointment is poised to enhance judicial service delivery and increase access to justice throughout Fiji. With her extensive legal background, Ms. Diroiroi’s role is seen as pivotal in strengthening the legal framework in the country, continuing a trend of bolstering Fiji’s judiciary to foster public confidence in its legal processes.
