Ajai Punja, a well-known businessman, was granted release on $500 bail by the Nadi Magistrates Court after being charged with the unlawful possession of illicit drugs. These charges arose following a police raid at his Denarau residence last Friday, during which authorities discovered white substances and dried leaves.
Forensic examinations revealed that the white substances tested negative for illicit drugs; however, the analysis of the dried leaves confirmed they contained marijuana. The case is scheduled for a mention on March 20.
