The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s may have finished sixth in Singapore, but head coach Richard Walker is optimistic about their performance as they head into the Perth Sevens this week. Despite the scorelines not fully reflecting the quality of rugby played by his team, Walker’s review of match footage has revealed promising signs for the future.

After analyzing the games, Walker expressed confidence in the girls’ capabilities, stating, “I actually thought the girls played some really, really good rugby, which is good to see.” He acknowledged that results can obscure the team’s progress, but by examining their performance closely, he recognized significant strengths in Fijiana’s attacking and structural play.

Walker noted that while some matches did not end in their favor, the overall game quality gave him hope and optimism. “In a couple of games, the score didn’t go our way, so you could feel differently about how you feel with the team. But going back and having a look, man, we played some really good rugby,” he said.

With key lessons learned and a boost in confidence, the team is now focusing on translating this potential into victories in Perth. The Fijiana aims to convert promising passages of play into consistent results as they gear up for another challenging leg of the world series at the Perth 7s, which kicks off this Saturday. Fans can watch Fiji’s matches live on FBC TV, bringing excitement and support to the team as they strive for success.
