Former Fijian radio host Litia Daugunu Naiteqe has reached a significant new milestone in her career in the United States by becoming the Southwest and Pacific Regional Director for USA Netball. This prestigious appointment marks her as the first Fijian and Pacific Islander to hold such a position, reflecting her commitment and passion for the sport.
Naiteqe’s role will involve overseeing the growth and development of netball across several states, including Arizona, Nevada, California, Utah, Hawaii, New Mexico, and Colorado. With a robust background in netball leadership from her days in Fiji, where she served as President of both the Waimanu Netball Club and Wardens Wives Netball Club, she brings extensive experience in sport administration and community engagement.
Her media background has also played a pivotal role in shaping her leadership approach, enabling her to effectively communicate and generate innovative ideas to propel netball forward. Currently, Naiteqe is also the Assistant Manager for the USA Flying Eagles, which allows her to expand her influence within the netball community.
Naiteqe acknowledges the challenges ahead, especially as she navigates regions she has not yet visited. However, she remains optimistic, drawing from her faith and determination to guide her through. USA Netball President Radica Wright praised Naiteqe’s dedication and leadership skills, expressing confidence in her ability to excel in her new role.
