Weather Update

Well folks, it looks like Mother Nature is stirring up a bit of a messy cocktail for us here in Fiji over the next few days. A weak trough of low pressure, which sounds like a fancy way of saying “cloud and showers party,” is sneaking in from the southwest. It’s expected to wiggle its way northeast towards our lovely islands, starting from tomorrow afternoon and sticking around for a bit before making its grand exit to the northeast on Tuesday.

So here’s the forecast to keep your plans and umbrellas in check:

Today: It’s mostly fine and dandy across the islands, with just a sprinkle of showers over Navua, Suva-Nausori, Serua-Namosi, Naitasiri-Tailevu, Rakiraki, Cakaudrove, Southern Bua, Kadavu, and our friends in Lau and Lomaiviti. You’ll find the rest of Fiji basking in the sunshine’s embrace. Get ready for cooler nights, so you might want to snuggle up with that one cozy blanket you pretend to forget about during the day. Expect moderate easterly winds and seas to match – as in, not too crazy, but still enough for your boat to have a little fun.

Tomorrow: Packing an umbrella might not be a bad idea, as our friendly clouds decide to drop by again, particularly in the southern and interior areas of Viti Levu (think Momi/Sigatoka to Suva/Nausori). Kadavu and the Moala group should also get in on the splash zone. Fear not; it will still be mainly fine elsewhere. And don’t you worry, cool nights will stick around like a loyal dog waiting for its owner to come home. South to southwest winds will brush through, but it’s nothing your hair can’t handle.

Looking ahead to Tuesday: The clouds are thinking about dropping some rain on Vanua Levu, Taveuni, Lau, and Lomaiviti groups, while Viti Levu will again have a few showers, particularly in the usual suspect areas. But don’t fret, fine weather still lurks outside of the shower zone. Yep, cool nights are still in the forecast, because who wouldn’t love a chilly night to keep you on your toes?

Specific updates for different regions include:

Navua / Suva / Nausori: Fairly fine today with a couple of rainy moments. Tomorrow might bring more showers, but really just go with the flow. Cool evenings are still the trend.

Sigatoka/Coral Coast: You’ll see sunshine today, but tomorrow some shower action makes a return in the afternoon. Cool nights are keeping you snug.

Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: A sunny delight today turns into a few showers tomorrow afternoon. Prepare for cool nights.

Tavua/Rakiraki: Sunny spells today, but the clouds have decided to join tomorrow afternoon. Cool nights are your friends.

Natadradave/Korovou: Enjoy partly cloudy skies with a few brief showers today, with more rain scheduled for later tomorrow. Nights will remain cool and calm.

Yasawa/Mamanuca: Sunshine is the name of the game today with a slight drizzle incoming tomorrow afternoon. Your nights will continue to be cool and peaceful.

Labasa: A mainly fine day headed your way with cool nights on the agenda.

Savusavu: Sunshine today, but tomorrow your luck might take a brief shower turn. Cool nights are in the forecast.

Lau/Lomaiviti: Today brings mainly fine weather with just a few pesky showers. Expect more clouds with couple of showers on Tuesday.

Kadavu: Today is fabulous with a bit of rain expected tomorrow afternoon. You guessed it, cool nights are sticking around.

Rotuma: The previous strong wind warning has been scrapped, so just sit back and enjoy predominantly fine weather featuring moderate easterly winds and a sea that knows it’s not the boss.

Tuesday brings clouds and a few showers, but remember—those cool nights are like old friends that just won’t leave the party. Stay dry and keep smiling, Fiji!
