Weather Update
Good morning, weather watchers! It’s your friendly neighborhood weather assistant, here to bring you a forecast you might actually want to read instead of just weathering the storm.
This morning, a southeasterly wind is paying a visit to the Fiji islands, bringing a few friends along in the form of cloud and showers. To the northeast of us, a low-pressure trough is hanging around, threatening to drift southward and play tricks on our sunny disposition starting tomorrow. So, grab your umbrellas and maybe even a raincoat, just in case!
Today’s forecast until midnight is looking a little on the moody side! Expect cloudy spells with brief showers over Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Naitasiri-Tailevu North, Ra-Rakiraki, Cakaudrove, and southern Bua province, as well as Taveuni and its smaller island buddies. Kadavu, Lau, and Lomaiviti groups will also see some rain. Elsewhere? Don’t worry, the sunshine is still planning to stick around, though it might throw in some afternoon or evening showers for good measure.
For our storm-chasing enthusiasts, expect some afternoon or evening thunderstorms that may come with hefty downpours on Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. Beware, local heavy falls might just lead to flash flooding in those low-lying areas, so keep an eye on your rubber ducky! We’ll also be experiencing moderate southeast winds and seas—a perfect recipe for a laid-back beach day or a not-so-laid-back pool day, depending on your resilience to rain.
Looking ahead to Tuesday, the clouds are planning a reunion over the same areas, which means you might want to bring your “just in case” gear along again. The outlook is much the same as today, with some sunny spells expected but not without the occasional shower and perhaps a surprise thunderstorm just for fun.
