Fiji Weather Forecast: Occasional Rain and Heavy Falls Expected Across Eastern Regions Today

Weather Report

This morning, at the early hour of 5:30 am on Sunday, May 25th, 2025, our friends at the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi have donned their best business casual attire to bring you the weather scoop. So, grab your umbrellas and put on those rain boots – it’s going to be a wet one!

A trough of low pressure has taken a long, leisurely stroll across the eastern islands, bringing cloud cover and showers that might make you feel like you’re walking through a rain forest instead of enjoying a tropical paradise. So, if you’re in places like Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri, Ra, Southern Bua, Cakaudrove, or even the smaller islands, be prepared for occasional rain, with a dramatic flair of isolated heavy showers. So, yes, your laundry plans might need a rain check today! Fortunately, the downpours are expected to calm down later today into simple showers.

The Yasawa group and Sigatoka will also experience some cloudy periods and shower action, possibly on the heavy side. But don’t fret too much; elsewhere, it seems the sun is still in the mood to play, with only the occurrence of sneaky isolated afternoon or evening showers.

As for the winds, you might want to hold onto your hats – or at least those flying coconuts – as moderate to fresh east to southeasterly winds sweep through, stirring up moderate to rough seas.

Now, peeking into the crystal ball for Monday’s forecast: It looks like the rain party just keeps rolling in some areas like Serua-Namosi, Navua, Suva, and the southern islands, where occasional showers and the possibility of isolating heavy falls can still be expected. Meanwhile, for most folks, expect a more calm offering – sunny spells will dominate except for those intermittent pesky showers sneaking in for a brief moment.

Let’s break down the specifics:

For Navua/Suva/Nausori: Expect occasional rain that will behave and ease into showers later.

For Sigatoka/Coral Coast: It’ll be cloudy with some possible hefty downpours, but Monday will be a lot more generous with sunshine, just showing off some isolated afternoon showers.

For Nadi/Lautoka/Ba: Cloud cover will make a dramatic entrance, complete with some afternoon and evening showers.

For Tavua/Rakiraki: Rainfall with some dramatic drops today, but later it’ll moderate to showers.

For everyone in Yasawa/Mamanuca, Labasa, Savusavu, Lau/Lomaiviti, and Kadavu: Looks like rain is the guest of honor today, tapering off to showers as we approach the sunset.

And finally, for our friends on Rotuma: The cloudy weather and showers have made themselves at home, and they aren’t planning to leave anytime soon.

So, stay dry, folks! And remember, rain is merely nature’s way of reminding us to appreciate the sunny days even more. Happy weathering!
