Weather Update
Good morning, Fiji! It’s February 1st, and as we roll into this fine Sunday, let’s see what the weather gods have in store for us.
So, we’ve got a southeasterly wind giving us a gentle nudge across the islands. But beware, a mischief-making trough of low pressure is expected to set up camp just north of us tomorrow. Classic!
As for the forecast until midnight tonight for the Fiji group, cloud lovers rejoice! We’ll have some cloudy spells with a sprinkle of showers in the Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Naitasiri-Tailevu North, Ra-Rakiraki, Cakaudrove and southern Bua provinces, Taveuni, Kadavu, as well as the Lau and Lomaiviti groups. Pretty much, if you live near water, expect a little wetness.
The rest of you can enjoy some fine weather with only the occasional shower dropping by for a visit in the afternoon or evening. And while we’re at it, brace yourselves for some isolated thunderstorms as they may decide to crash the party, especially in the interior and northeastern parts of Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. Remember to keep your rubber boots handy; local downpours might tempt flash flooding in some of our low-lying areas later on.
On the wind front, expect moderate southeast breezes, and seas that are also feeling pretty moderate. So, no extreme thrill-seeking activities on the ocean today.
Looking ahead to Monday, we’ve got more of the same gloomy cute as we’re served another helping of cloudiness with a splash of showers over the same cast of characters—Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, and other provinces. Fine weather will still reign in other areas with the occasional shower and thunderstorm making an appearance.
Now, let’s spill the beans on the specifics for various regions:
For Navua / Suva / Nausori: Cloudy conditions with a side of showers. Isolated thunderstorms may give you a reason to wear your cutest umbrella. Temp range: Min: 24, Max: 32.
For Sigatoka / Coral Coast: Mostly fine, but don’t get too comfy—afternoon or evening showers might dance by. Temp range: Min: 24, Max: 31.
For Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: Sunshine flirting with rain, mainly at dusk; perfect time for some mood lighting from the clouds. Temp range: Min: 24, Max: 33.
For the Yasawa/Mamanuca group: Beautifully fine until those sneaky showers slip in for the evening. Temp range: Min: 25, Max: 33.
For Labasa: A lean towards fine weather, but watch out for those afternoon showers! Temp range: Min: 24, Max: 34.
For Savusavu: Cloudy with the chance of showers and thunderstorms—better have a backup plan if you’re heading out! Temp range: Min: 25, Max: 32.
Our friendly Rotuma is feeling a bit under the weather with occasional showers and a hint of thunderstorms. Moderate seas are still okay for a paddle, but keep an eye out! Temp range: Min: 25, Max: 30.
So there you have it, folks! Get your raincoats ready, stay dry—and let’s appreciate the much-needed moisture that keeps our islands lush and fabulous! Happy Sunday, Fiji!
