Attention, weather enthusiasts and rain dancers!

Gather around as we break down the upcoming weather for our beautiful islands, courtesy of the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi.

First things first, if you’re living in the Northern Division, Yasawa, Northern Lau, or Lomaiviti groups, you’ll want to keep your umbrellas close—like, really close—because a HEAVY RAIN ALERT is having a party there! And guess what? It’s a flash flood alert for the entire Fiji group as well! Always fun to have a little excitement, right?

So what’s happening? Well, there’s a sluggish trough of low pressure just hanging out over Fiji (perhaps it’s on vacation), bringing along some unexpected cloud cover and showers for the next few days. It looks like the weather decided to crash the party!

Forecast until midnight tomorrow: Expect showers, and if you’re in the Northern Division, Yasawa, Northern Lau, or Lomaiviti groups, gear up for some isolated heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms. In eastern Viti Levu—cover your ears!—the thunder is waiting to surprise you too. Elsewhere, it will just be partly cloudy with a few sneaky showers and the occasional evening thunderstorm.

And let’s be honest, heavy rain might turn our low-lying areas into mini water parks—just be careful where you splash!

As we sail into Friday, it’s more of the same: those occasional rain showers, heavy downpours, and a thunderstorm or two saying hello over the Northern Division and beyond. Keep your rain jackets ready as you head out!

Here’s a sneak peek for some of our favorite spots:

– **Nadi / Lautoka / Ba**: If you’re planning on having your coffee outside, maybe rethink that. It’s going to be partly cloudy with showers and possible thunderstorms. Tomorrow’s forecast: Min: 23, Max: 31. Prepare for a splash and a dash—literally!

– **Sigatoka/Coral Coast**: Partly cloudy skies and a chance of a few light showers, along with some more thunderous guests arriving in the afternoon or evening. Tomorrow’s forecast: Min: 23, Max: 30.

– **Yasawa/Mamanuca**: You might want to swap your beach lounge for a cozy umbrella. Expect some rain and thunderstorms starting tomorrow. Min: 23, Max: 29.

– **Kadavu**: Similar game plan—expect a mix of cloudy skates with showers and those lovely thunderstorms. Min: 23, Max: 30.

– **Rotuma**: The weather gods have validated your need for rain! Expect periods of heavy rain and a few thunderstorms as the trough decides to stick around. Tomorrow’s forecast: Min: 25, Max: 29.

So, pack up those rain boots and have an umbrella at the ready! It seems the weather is determined to keep us on our toes. Just remember, a little rain never hurt anyone, but it does make for great stories! Stay dry and entertained out there!
