Weather Musings from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi

Hello, lovely Fiji! Buckle up your umbrellas, because the weather gods have decided to turn on the rain faucet! It’s 7:30 PM on Monday, March 2, 2026, and as thrilling as watching paint dry, a heavy rain warning is still going strong over our beautiful islands. Want to learn more? Head on over to the Special Weather Bulletin for Heavy Rain. Just remember, a little rain never hurt anyone – unless it’s in your living room!

Now, if you’re living it up on Viti Levu, grab your floaties! A flash flood warning is currently making the rounds for the entire region. We’ve also got a flood warning for all those charming low-lying areas that hug the Nakauvadra River, Yaqara River, Tavua River, and the scenic flood plains of Ba River. For the cool cats down in Nadroga, hold onto your hats! A flood alert is in play for the Nadi, Nawaka, and Tuva Rivers.

While rain may be annoying for the unsuspecting barbecue host, it brings life to our lush landscape, so let’s take a moment to appreciate it! An active trough of low pressure is leading the orchestration of clouds, showers, and the kind of rain that makes you wonder if you should have picked up that waterproof jacket. This show will be performed until at least Wednesday – mark your calendars!

For your Tuesday theatrical forecast: Expect occasional to persistent rain, heavy at times, and a few surprise thunderstorms that seem to arrive just when you’re about to leave the house. Don’t worry; the rain will take a breather later in the day. Winds will be moderately fresh, with the occasional gust giving you a little surprise – hold onto your hats!

Now, peeking into Wednesdays: More rain is on the way, with isolated thunderstorms making appearances, especially over Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, making it quite the rainy party! As the winds shift to a cooler northeasterly vibe, seas will also present themselves as moderately lively.

Quick look at the weather highlights for various regions – not that these regions will ever forget it:

– For Navua/Suva/Nausori, you’re looking at rain and perhaps a friendly thunderstorm or two tomorrow, with highs around 30 °C.
– Sigatoka/Coral Coast fans might see the same soggy scenario on their horizon.
– Our friends in Nadi/Lautoka/Ba, expect the same gray companionship with highs also around 30 °C.
– And across the Yasawa/Mamanuca group, prepare for quite the wet adventure as well.

Rotuma, you won’t miss out on this downpour either! A heavy rain alert is your invitation to dance in the rain with occasional thunderstorms!

So, while we may be weathering storms, let’s embrace the opportunity for cozy indoor activities – maybe some hot chocolate or a rainy day movie marathon! Until next time, stay safe, stay dry, and keep those spirits high!
