The recently held Fiji Tourism Exchange (FTE) 2025 has proven to be a remarkable event for Fiji’s tourism sector, attracting over 550 participants from 19 countries, including 138 international buyers and 84 sales companies. The event took place on May 12-13 at the Sheraton Fiji Golf and Beach Resort in Denarau, Nadi, with a focus on creating authentic travel experiences and fostering meaningful connections in tourism.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Viliame Gavoka, inaugurated the event and stressed the significance of genuine travel experiences. “Fiji, where happiness comes naturally, is ready to offer experiences brimming with joy and connection,” he affirmed. The FTE served as a platform not only for large operators but also for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), further highlighted during the preceding Tourism Super Week that aimed to empower local businesses in the tourism value chain.
Brent Hill, CEO of Tourism Fiji, noted that the combination of the FTE and Tourism Super Week demonstrates a collaborative spirit that aims to not only boost economic growth but also enhance sustainable tourism practices. Fiji Airways’ full membership in the OneWorld Alliance is expected to facilitate greater connectivity, allowing for an anticipated milestone of one million visitors by air and cruise in 2024.
The positive atmosphere at the FTE 2025 reflects a broader optimism in Fiji’s tourism industry, with stakeholders excited about the potential for sustainable growth and cultural preservation. Brent Hill mentioned that the ongoing campaigns are crucial for showcasing Fiji’s unique offerings, allowing for lasting partnerships and economic benefits for local communities.
The event has laid a strong foundation for future international collaborations and signifies Fiji’s commitment to integrating sustainability into its tourism practices, thereby promising a hopeful and prosperous future for the local industry. By focusing on collaboration and shared experiences, Fiji is set to continue enhancing its appeal as a premier travel destination in the South Pacific.
