The Fiji Tourism Exchange (FTE) 2025, inaugurated by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Viliame Gavoka, is experiencing significant growth this year, marked by an increase in buyers and scheduled appointments. The event, held at the Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort in Denarau, Nadi, has approximately 4,300 scheduled meetings, highlighting a robust platform for conversations and potential business opportunities among exhibitors and buyers.
Gavoka emphasized the importance of experiencing Fiji’s unique offerings firsthand, stating that selling the authentic Fijian warmth and hospitality requires a personal touch. He noted that participants from diverse locations, including Belgium and India, are joining the Expo, enhancing Fiji’s visibility on the global tourism stage. This year, the event has also introduced a Consumer Media Program to involve international influencers and media, amplifying Fiji’s tourism narrative while promoting cultural experiences and sustainability.
The FTE 2025 is seen as more than just an event; it presents a critical opportunity for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and grassroots operators by connecting them with international markets. By showcasing the authenticity of Fijian hospitality, the Expo aims to forge new partnerships and create lasting economic benefits for the local community.
This year’s FTE follows other successful initiatives, such as the Tourism Super Week, which was centered on empowering local operators and addressing the challenges faced in the tourism sector. The combined efforts highlight a collaborative spirit within the industry and an optimistic outlook for its future.
The ongoing initiatives underscore Fiji’s commitment to sustainable tourism practices, fostering partnerships that benefit not only the economy but also preserve the rich cultural heritage and natural beauty of the islands. As the tourism industry navigates transformations and strives for growth, Fiji remains focused on its mission to create meaningful connections and opportunities for all stakeholders involved.
As the Fiji Tourism Exchange wraps up, there is a hopeful narrative emerging, showcasing how community involvement and shared experiences can indeed lead to a prosperous and sustainable future for Fiji’s tourism sector.
