Weather Update
Brought to you straight from the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi, on this fine Friday evening, the 9th of May 2025.
Attention, Fiji! Grab your umbrellas and batten down the hatches because a HEAVY RAIN WARNING is in full effect across the entire island nation. Yes, that’s right—get ready to bring out the waterproof boots and dance like nobody’s watching!
If you live in the coastal areas of Viti Levu—from Sigatoka, through the Coral Coast, and right on up to Rakiraki—listen up! We’ve got STRONG WIND WARNING in place, and those gusty breezes could be whipping around at speeds of up to 46 km/hr. It’s time to secure those lawn chairs; they might just take flight!
Currently, a mischievous trough of low pressure has decided to hang over us, causing clouds to gather and rain to fall like it’s auditioning for a role in a soap opera until Sunday.
What to expect before the midnight chime: in our lovely coastal areas, prepare for those mighty breezes while the seas get their rough-and-tumble on. Expect some playful rain—occasionally heavy, mind you, and the occasional thunderstorm to keep things interesting. With some isolated heavy downpours, we might even see a flash flood or two; just remember to keep rubber duckies handy for any unexpected paddling adventures!
Now let’s take a quick peek into tomorrow’s crystal ball:
In Navua, Suva, and Nausori: A splashy affair with heavy rain and those cheeky thunderstorms making a guest appearance.
Over at Sigatoka and the Coral Coast: More surprises with heavy rains and a thunderstorm show.
For Nadi, Lautoka, and Ba: You guessed it—same rain, same fun!
Tavua and Rakiraki: Don’t be left out; bring those raindrops on!
And to cap it off, all our friends in Labasa, Savusavu, and those scenic Yasawa and Mamanuca Islands—keep those raincoats at the ready; you’ll be wading through an occasional downpour too.
Oh, and let’s not forget lovely Kadavu and the charming Rotuma; prepare yourself for that rain-laden excitement too!
So, keep those umbrellas high and your spirits higher! Sunday looks to be a bit more of the same—a bit of rain, some thunderous clapping, and perhaps a few boat rides! Stay dry and don’t forget—if you venture out, it’s the perfect time to practice your best ‘rain dance’!
