Fiji’s new Ambassador to Israel, Mr. Jesoni Vitusagavulu, has officially presented his credentials to Israeli President Isaac Herzog at a ceremony held at the President’s Residence in Jerusalem on February 3, 2026.

During this significant event, Ambassador Vitusagavulu extended warm wishes from Fiji’s President, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, and the Fijian people. He expressed his pride in representing Fiji at what is now the country’s first permanent Embassy in Jerusalem, which was inaugurated in September 2025, signifying a pivotal step in the relationship between Fiji and Israel.

President Herzog warmly welcomed Ambassador Vitusagavulu and praised Fiji for establishing a lasting diplomatic presence in Jerusalem. He mentioned the burgeoning socio-economic, cultural, and historical bonds that both nations share, underscoring the mutual benefits anticipated from this relationship. Furthermore, President Herzog announced Israel’s plans to open its own resident diplomatic mission in Fiji later this year.

The establishment of these permanent missions is a testament to the commitment shared by Fiji and Israel to enhance bilateral relations, regional collaboration, and multilateral engagements, particularly within the broader Indo-Pacific area. As both nations continue to strengthen their ties, this relationship holds promise for increased cooperation and mutual growth.
