The Minister for Fisheries, Alitia Bainivalu, has addressed concerns regarding the recent increase in electricity tariffs, emphasizing the responsibility of elected officials to advocate for the needs of ordinary Fijians while also respecting the autonomy of regulatory bodies. Bainivalu recognized the essential role played by the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission, highlighting the importance of independent institutions in upholding democratic values.
