Fiji’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Sakiasi Ditoka, has made his inaugural official visit to Nauru, where he met with President David Adeang. This visit coincided with Nauru’s 58th Independence anniversary, highlighting the strong friendship and cultural connections shared between the two Pacific nations.

Minister Ditoka’s visit marks his first regional engagement since taking on his ministerial responsibilities. In discussions held at the Office of the President, he extended heartfelt greetings from the people of Fiji.

The talks were constructive, emphasizing future collaborations in several key areas, including educational exchanges, enhancing people-to-people connections, and expanding air services agreements. Additionally, they explored opportunities for importing fresh food from Fiji and establishing frameworks for extradition and legal cooperation.

The longstanding relationship between Fiji and Nauru was reaffirmed, with both countries expressing a commitment to enhancing practical cooperation that benefits their citizens. This positive engagement reflects a hopeful outlook for both nations as they work together to improve the well-being of their populations through mutual support and collaboration.
