The Fiji Junior Kulas are preparing for the OFC Under-16 Women’s Championship, which begins this Sunday at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
Head coach Marika Rodu has voiced confidence in the team’s preparation as they approach the final days before their first match. “The preparation is well underway, and we are in our last week of training, focusing on keeping things calm. The girls are in great shape and ready for the opener against Tonga,” Rodu shared with Fiji FA Media.
Rodu anticipates a tough match against Tonga, recognizing that the initial game is usually the most challenging. “We don’t expect the match against Tonga to be straightforward since the first match is always difficult, but the key is to settle in and engage with the game right away,” he remarked.
The experienced coach pointed out Tonga’s defensive style, emphasizing their tendency to establish a low block, which could pose challenges for Fiji to penetrate their defense.
Nonetheless, Rodu remains hopeful about the Junior Kulas’ prospects, stating, “We will strategize accordingly and aim to secure three points on Sunday.”
The match is set to kick off at 3 PM.
