Weather Update
Ahoy there, weather watchers! Grab your umbrellas and wellies because we’ve got a hefty rain alert hovering over Vanua Levu, Taveuni, and some cozy little islands in the Lau group as of 11:09 PM on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. You might want to consider building a boat if you live in these areas!
What’s happening? A sluggish trough of low pressure is drifting lazily along the southern and eastern parts of our beautiful Fijian islands, while another one is making its way from the northeast. It’s expected to take over the scene until Saturday, so you might want to call in “sick” to your sandcastle-building plans!
Tonight and into tomorrow, prepare for occasional showers and even some thunderstorms that could make your hair stand on end! Vanua Levu, Taveuni, and the Lau and Lomaiviti groups are likely to receive some heavy bursts of rain. And if you’re in Sigatoka-Korolevu, Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nasinu, Yasawa, or Mamanuca, don’t be surprised when rain decides to crash your outdoor soirée!
Over in Nadi, Lautoka, and Ba, expect mainly fine weather, with the potential for some late afternoon showers and thunderstorms—think of it as nature’s version of a surprise party.
Now, if you’re living it up in Taveuni or the Lau and Lomaiviti areas, you may want to invest in some high-quality swimwear, as heavy rain could sneak up on you tonight. Just remember, the forecast calls for rain but makes no guarantees on whether it will be the warm tropical kind or the cold kind that inspires you to question your life choices.
As for temperatures, you can expect a minimum of around 24°C and a maximum hitting around 34°C, so it’s sort of like living in a sauna—minus the blissful relaxation part.
Looking ahead to Friday, the forecast is more of the same: occasional downpours, heavy at times, with a few thunderous friendships forming as thunderstorms make introductions. Those of you living in low-lying areas should be mindful as localised heavy falls may lead to some splashy situations.
So there you have it—get your long coats, wellies, and sense of humor ready for a wet and wild couple of days ahead in Fiji! Stay dry and safe, everyone!
