The Ministry of Health and Medical Services has announced the passing of its Permanent Secretary, Dr. Jemesa Tudravu, who died yesterday. Dr. Tudravu had a distinguished career, dedicating over thirty years to Fiji’s health sector. After completing his specialist training as an Orthopaedic Surgeon at Newcastle Hospital in Australia, he held several senior leadership positions, including Medical Superintendent at Lautoka Hospital and the Colonial War Memorial Hospital, Chief Medical Advisor, and Acting Permanent Secretary for Health and Medical Services.
His appointment as Permanent Secretary took place in February 2024. Throughout his career, Dr. Tudravu was known for his humility, integrity, commitment, and compassion, qualities that greatly impacted the lives of those he served. The Ministry has expressed its heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and all who had the opportunity to work with him.
Dr. Tudravu leaves behind a remarkable legacy marked by his dedication to healthcare and leadership. In the interim, Dr. Luisa Cikamatana is acting as the Permanent Secretary. His contributions to Fiji’s health sector will be remembered and cherished by many.
