The Gymnastics Federation of Fiji is actively preparing for the upcoming National Clubs Festival in Gold Coast, Australia, highlighted by a recent competition held in Lautoka. This event saw participation from 22 gymnasts representing the Flight Club in Lautoka and AeroGym Fiji from Suva, demonstrating a broad talent pool.

Athletes performed across various skill levels, including categories 3, 4, 5, as well as youth and senior international levels. Notably, the competition introduced Lauren Pilla, as Fiji’s new youth international athlete, who is set to represent the nation at the prestigious Suzuki World Cup next year.

A standout moment from the event was the captivating performance by senior international athlete Robyn Eastgate, who recently impressed audiences with her routine at the Suzuki World Cup. Eastgate’s journey in gymnastics has been inspirational; she is preparing to make history as Fiji’s first participant in Aerobic Gymnastics at the Suzuki World Cup in Tokyo.

This training event also featured expert coaches, including Deborah Greenbaum, Australia’s National Coach for Youth and Junior Aerobic Gymnastics, and Pearl Rozenberg, the Australian Judging Coordinator. Their feedback proved invaluable to the athletes’ development, showcasing the blend of local and international coaching that is enriching the sport within Fiji.

The groundwork laid by events like this not only emphasizes the dedication of Fiji’s athletes but also reflects the increasing international presence of Fijian gymnasts. The momentum generated from these competitions provides hope for the future of gymnastics in Fiji, inspiring the next generation to pursue their dreams in sports.

With exciting opportunities on the horizon, particularly for athletes like Robyn Eastgate, the Gymnastics Federation of Fiji is fostering a culture of excellence that will benefit many aspiring gymnasts across the nation.
