Members of the Fiji Golf Club marked the end of their golfing season with a spirited competition held yesterday, drawing in a total of 108 enthusiastic participants. The event was based on a four-man Ambrose format, a dynamic and collaborative style of play where teams hit from the tee and select the best shot, continuing from that position until they complete the hole.
The season-closing competition, which commenced on Friday, started with registrations at 9 AM and featured a shot-gun start just an hour later. Handicaps were calculated by averaging the individual handicaps and dividing by eight to determine each team’s net score, creating an engaging challenge for all involved.
Supporting the event was Goodman Fielder, a leading food manufacturing company, alongside various sponsors including the Bank of the South Pacific (BSP), BSP Life, Canform Industries, Rups Investments, Bayside Investments, A. Hussain & Co., Propmate, Mali Pest Control, Rosy Hearts, Khanz Holdings, Pandanus Group, Stiff Shafts Group, and Carpenters Motors. Their combined efforts contributed to a successful and enjoyable day of golf.
Despite the unpredictable weather, characterized by overcast skies and light showers, the golfers remained in high spirits, showcasing their passion for the sport. The competition also attracted notable guests, including the Indonesian Ambassador to Fiji, Dupito Simamora, as well as former Miss Fiji and Miss South Pacific winner Alisi Rabukawaqa, who joined the festivities on the course.
This event not only wrapped up the golfing season for the Fiji Golf Club but also reinforced a sense of community among its members and supporters, setting a positive tone for the year ahead. As the club looks forward to future seasons, the camaraderie and enthusiasm demonstrated during this memorable closing event are sure to resonate throughout the year.
