Nineteen-year-old Pauliasi Daucakacaka is setting his sights on a triumphant conclusion to his senior year at Nasinu Secondary School. The Year-13 Pure Arts student showcased his athletic talent among 700 competitors at the school’s inter-house event held at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
Daucakacaka participated in several events, including the 100m sprint, triple jump, and long jump. His performance in the long jump was particularly noteworthy, achieving a distance of 5.91 meters, which he hopes will qualify him for the zone competition.
“I really want to enjoy my last year of high school and leave on a successful note in athletics,” Daucakacaka expressed. “My ultimate goal is to make my parents proud. They are my anchor in everything I do, whether it be in academics or sports.”
This isn’t Daucakacaka’s first experience at a high-level competition; he has previously participated in the Fiji Finals while representing Lelean Memorial School, where he competed in the 800m race. Now in a different environment, he is determined to leave a lasting mark and develop a legacy at one of Fiji’s most prominent secondary schools athletics meets.
With his passion and dedication evident, Daucakacaka embodies the spirit of youthful aspiration and commitment to excellence, encouraging not only himself but also fellow athletes to strive for greatness in their final year of school.
