Fiji and New Zealand have emphasized their strong partnership in policing following a courtesy visit by New Zealand High Commissioner Greg Andrews to Minister for Policing and Communications Ioane Naivalurua.

During the meeting, High Commissioner Andrews was joined by outgoing New Zealand Senior Police Liaison Officer Glyn Rowland, whose contributions to the partnership were recognized and appreciated. The discussions focused on the enduring collaboration between the two nations, particularly in the areas of combating illicit drugs and enhancing community policing initiatives. Andrews reiterated New Zealand’s commitment to supporting Fiji in the expansion of community-based policing efforts.

Minister Naivalurua presented the Ministry’s CVM–CMS framework, which prioritizes community policing, maritime security, good governance, and enhanced inter-agency collaboration. He also discussed ongoing outreach efforts involving community leaders, including recent engagements with church representatives as part of nationwide drug awareness campaigns.

Both countries expressed their dedication to strengthening cooperation in these crucial areas in the future, aiming to foster safer communities and improve public safety. The alignment in their policing strategies underscores a fruitful partnership built on mutual interests and shared goals.
