Paul Scurrah, managing director and chief executive officer of Fiji Airways Ltd, has been appointed as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in this year’s Australia Day Honours, recognizing his significant contributions to the transport, logistics, and freight sectors in Australia. Scurrah is one of 160 Australians receiving this honor for his exceptional service spanning over two decades, during which he has played a pivotal role in enhancing Australia’s national freight capabilities and transportation networks.

Fiji Airways expressed its pride in Scurrah’s appointment, emphasizing his leadership in guiding complex organizations through transformation while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, operational resilience, workforce engagement, and customer service. His efforts have been instrumental in strengthening supply chain capabilities and modernizing logistics operations, particularly in times of disruption.

The Order of Australia is a prestigious system of honors that acknowledges outstanding achievement and service among Australians. Scurrah’s appointment as an AM reflects his sustained impact in both his profession and the wider community. Fiji Airways chairman Nalin Patel noted that this honor highlights Scurrah’s professional legacy in Australia and the leadership he brings to Fiji’s national airline.

Since assuming his role at Fiji Airways, Scurrah has been dedicated to fostering a strong safety culture and embedding excellence in service within the airline. Under his guidance, Fiji Airways aims to become the “World’s Happiest Airline,” which aligns with its mission of ensuring reliable connectivity for Fiji and enhancing its global network.

In total, the 2026 Australia Day honors list recognized 680 individuals for their service, including 10 Companions of the Order (AC), 38 Officers of the Order (AO), and 472 recipients of the Medal of the Order (OAM). Scurrah’s appointment stands as a testament to the essential role that strong leadership and dedicated service play in advancing national interests and connecting communities.
