The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade of Fiji is actively monitoring the developing security situation in the Middle East and has established an emergency operations center in Suva. In a recent statement posted on their Facebook page, the Ministry confirmed that there have been no reports indicating that Fijian nationals are directly impacted by the recent incidents in the region.
Fiji’s diplomatic missions, specifically the Embassy of Fiji in Israel and the Embassy of Fiji in the United Arab Emirates, are in constant communication with local authorities and are reaching out to Fijian citizens to provide updates and support. The emergency operations center, located at the Ministry’s headquarters, is tasked with coordinating these monitoring efforts and ensuring a swift consular response if necessary.
Officials have stated that a contingency plan is in place to facilitate consular assistance to Fijian nationals should the security situation deteriorate. This proactive approach highlights the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of its citizens abroad during these uncertain times.
