The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua are focused on bouncing back from their recent loss as they gear up to face the NSW Waratahs at Allianz Stadium tomorrow night. Head coach Glen Jackson emphasized the team’s quick transition from disappointment to determination following last week’s defeat, indicating a strong resolve to learn from the experience with a short turnaround before their next match.

Jackson acknowledged the team’s collective disappointment but stressed the necessity of overcoming setbacks promptly in rugby. With only six days between games, he highlighted the importance of readiness and focus. “There was a lot of disappointment within the playing group,” Jackson said, “but you’ve got to get over that very quickly.”

Despite the earlier setback against Moana Pasifika, Jackson noted that the players have responded positively, building on their performance, particularly in the latter stages of the game. “We won three quarters but failed big time in the first quarter,” he reflected. The team fell behind early but managed to recover in the second half, underscoring a lot of positives that they aim to build on against a formidable Waratahs side.

With the Waratahs positioned high in the competition standings, Jackson pointed out that preparation this week has been focused on enhancing physicality and addressing the threats posed by the Waratahs’ strong attacking play. He acknowledged the strength of their backline, made up of notable signings and Wallabies, and noted that his forwards are eager for the challenge ahead.

Additionally, Jackson mentioned that the coaching staff has implemented tactical adjustments in response to the Waratahs’ evolving style of play. The team is committed to delivering a comprehensive performance as they set their sights on victory in Sydney.

With focused preparation and a renewed sense of purpose, the Drua are ready to showcase their resolve and competitiveness as they take to the field at 8:35 PM tomorrow, hoping to turn their fortunes around against the Waratahs.
