Doulos Hope Floats Into Fiji With 2,000-Book Floating Book Fair

Doulos Hope Floats Into Fiji With 2,000-Book Floating Book Fair

The Doulos Hope floating Bookfair is making its inaugural visit to Fiji, bringing with it a treasure trove of affordable books aimed at enhancing literacy and education within local communities. This ship serves as a sister vessel to the Doulos, which made a previous stop in Fiji back in 2008. Managed by GBA Ships, an international non-profit organization, the Doulos Hope emphasizes the importance of literacy, education, and social awareness in its mission.

The Bookfair offers a diverse selection of over 2,000 titles, touching on a wide array of subjects such as science, medicine, arts, and sports, making it a valuable resource for readers of all ages.

The floating Bookfair will be docked at Queen’s Wharf in Lautoka from March 13 to 22, followed by a stay at the Port of Suva from April 1 to April 26. Visitors can explore the ship during its opening hours, which are from 10 AM to 5 PM on weekdays and from 1 PM to 7 PM on weekends. Entrance is free for children aged 12 and under, as well as seniors aged 65 and above, while a nominal fee of $2 FJD will be charged for all other visitors.

This initiative is a wonderful opportunity for the people of Fiji to engage with literature and promote learning, fostering a love for reading within the community.
