Tropical Cyclone Seru is currently being monitored by the Fiji Meteorological Service, which has determined that it will not pose a direct threat to Fiji. TC Seru is projected to track southeast, remaining to the far west of the islands and out in open waters, where it is expected to weaken over time.

Despite the cyclone’s path posing minimal danger, its associated active convergence zone will bring fresh to strong northwesterly winds and rainfall across Fiji from Thursday into the weekend. The disturbance is currently located to the east of Vanuatu.

The Fiji Meteorological Service urges residents to remain vigilant despite the cyclone’s low risk. This situation echoes previous warnings regarding weather disturbances, such as Tropical Disturbance TD01F and TD02F, which also revealed low chances of intensification into a cyclone but raised concerns about associated heavy rainfall and strong winds. These disturbances served as reminders of the critical importance of preparedness and community vigilance during such unpredictable weather conditions.

Residents should continue to monitor updates from the Fiji Meteorological Service to ensure safety and readiness for any changes in weather patterns. Communities often display resilience in the face of natural disturbances, and this situation offers an opportunity for residents to come together in support of one another, highlighting the strength and solidarity of the people of Fiji.
