Paul and Karen Gimbel, celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary, embarked on a memorable cruise to the South Pacific aboard the Celebrity Edge. This special voyage comes as they reflect on a beautiful four decades of marriage, having previously taken only three cruises.
Just days before Valentine’s Day, the couple sought to acknowledge their ruby anniversary with a trip that marks their first venture into the South Pacific. They shared their excitement during a stop in Suva, Fiji, where they were greeted warmly by the locals. “Everyone is very welcoming,” they noted, emphasizing the friendly atmosphere they experienced.
Originally from Wisconsin, the Gimbels traveled from their home to Auckland, New Zealand, to board their ship. Their itinerary includes visits to the Bay of Islands, Suva, Lautoka, and Samoa, creating an enriching experience as they explore new destinations.
Retired now, Paul and Karen have dedicated much of their time to family, being actively involved in the lives of their three adult children and four grandchildren, alongside their two dogs. “Life is good,” they expressed, highlighting their gratitude for their family dynamics and the advancements in technology that allow them to stay in touch while traveling.
While they have enjoyed various cruise experiences—including trips to Alaska and the Caribbean—this journey stands out not only for the beautiful setting but also for the ship’s modern amenities. The Celebrity Edge is praised for its innovative “Magic Carpet,” which enhances the embarkation experience.
Though they faced some choppy seas initially, the couple found enjoyment in the onboard entertainment and dining options. They looked forward to the remaining stops of their trip, making it a celebration of love and adventure that resonates with the spirit of their long-lasting relationship.
This heartwarming story illustrates not only the joy of travel but also the enduring power of family and love. It serves as a reminder that life’s celebrations, be they big or small, are best shared with loved ones.
