Crossroad Volleyball Club delivered an impressive performance at this year’s Tui Suva Volleyball Tournament, decisively defeating the reigning champions, Ucuna, in straight sets at Suvavou Village. This year’s tournament holds special significance as it celebrates its 35th anniversary, a milestone that has become an important family tradition for many from Fiji and abroad who return to celebrate during the Christmas and Boxing Day holidays.
Atunaisa Kepa, the team’s spokesman and key player, expressed that this year’s tournament trophies are dedicated to members of the team who have passed away, namely John and Inoke. This meaningful gesture adds a layer of remembrance to the competition, allowing participants to honor the legacy of their friends and family while engaging in spirited rivalry.
Kepa emphasized the hope that the youth of Suvavou Village will carry on this cherished tradition, ensuring that the tournament thrives for generations to come. After a disappointing exit in the semi-finals last year, Crossroad showcased a fierce determination and strong team dynamics, despite having only a week to prepare together.
As they look ahead, the team now prepares for their next challenge, the Tui Suva Trophy, which is set to take place on New Year’s Day at the same venue. With their recent success, Crossroad aims to maintain their momentum as they enter the new year with renewed aspirations.
