Bula FC’s head coach, Stephane Auvray, emphasizes the importance of emotional management and player fitness as his team readies for their next OFC Pro League match following a challenging series of games in Port Moresby. With a quick turnaround between fixtures, Auvray is keenly mindful of balancing recovery, player rotation, and performance levels, particularly after extracting valuable lessons from their latest outing.
“We’re preparing well. We have one day of recovery. Thankfully, some players have fresh legs,” Auvray shared, noting the team’s efforts to optimize their readiness. The coach explained that early substitutions during the previous match allowed several players to participate for just one half, a strategy aimed at maintaining squad freshness for the upcoming contest.
“We also made early subs, so some of our players only played one half. We’re trying to come up with the best formation to manage fitness, fatigue, and performance for the next game,” he added. Despite these tactical preparations, Auvray highlighted that the most significant learning from the last match was emotional rather than strategic. He recognized that the team had difficulty managing the game when they had a numerical advantage, focusing too much on protecting their lead instead of actively controlling possession.
Bula FC is set to compete against Tahiti United this Sunday at 5:30 PM, and fans can catch the action live on FBC 2. The match presents an opportunity for the team to implement their insights and enhance their performance, showcasing their growth in both physical and emotional aspects of the game.
