With just one more warm-up match against Wellington Phoenix on Saturday, players are eager to demonstrate their skills and secure their positions in the squad. Defender Sterling Vasconcellos shared his positive outlook, stating that the close-knit atmosphere among players has fostered strong teamwork and camaraderie. “We’re always making jokes and working together. I think the team is really coming together and hopefully, we can make everyone at home proud,” he said.
Vasconcellos, a 19-year-old who started playing football at Dreketi Sangam School, expressed enthusiasm about the team’s prospects. His training experience at this level has helped him refine his tactical understanding of the game, which he acknowledges as a crucial part of their preparation. “It’s another level here, quite fast and tactical so that has helped me a lot with understanding and reading the game,” he noted.
