The WOWS Kids Fiji Foundation has recently been bolstered by a generous $20,000 donation from BSP Financial Group Ltd. This contribution was announced during a festive event that included an early Christmas lunch and a touching gift-giving ceremony for children battling health challenges and their families.

Rajeshwar Singh, the CFO and acting country head of BSP, highlighted the significance of the event, emphasizing its status as an anticipated annual tradition for the bank. He noted that such support aligns with BSP’s commitment to corporate social responsibility, especially as a leader in the financial sector. “As one of the foundation’s long-standing partners, we’ve supported WOWS since its inception,” Singh stated, underlining the importance of community involvement.

In a heartfelt reflection, Mr. Singh acknowledged the loss of 20 children who had attended last year’s gathering but found solace in celebrating the 26 new children receiving support from the foundation this year. “We mourn for those who are no longer with us, but we also celebrate the new faces here today,” he said, offering prayers for the departed and those still facing their battles.

He praised the resilience of parents and the essential role organizations like WOWS play in assisting families dealing with childhood cancer. Singh remarked on the profound impact a diagnosis has on families and stressed the importance of providing relief during such challenging times. He further commended the sacrifices parents make for their children’s well-being and encouraged public participation in charitable initiatives.

WOWS Kids Fiji trustee Anabel Ali expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the ongoing support, acknowledging that many of the children spend a significant amount of time unwell, either at home or in hospitals. She described the joy and upliftment that events like these bring to the children, highlighting the positive experiences they provide in difficult times.

As a developing non-profit, WOWS often faces resource limitations, and Ali emphasized that contributions from BSP and other supporters make a significant impact on their operations. “We are deeply grateful for the generosity shown today,” she concluded.

This event not only highlights the importance of community support but also fosters hope and joy among families facing hardships. It serves as a reminder that, even in challenging times, collective efforts can create moments of happiness and relief for those in need.
