Rob Valetini, a backrower for the Wallabies and Brumbies, has expressed his belief that this is a pivotal year for the team to strive for the Super Rugby Pacific title. Having reached the semifinals for the past two seasons, Valetini is optimistic that 2025 could be the year they make a significant impact.
Valetini emphasized the team’s determination to elevate their performance and achieve their goal of clinching the title. He stated, “It’s been our goal this year to take one more step (and claim the title),” reflecting a sense of urgency and ambition within the squad.
He shared his admiration for the hard work the players have put in during training, particularly noting the impressive efforts of new team members who have seamlessly integrated into the squad. “I think they fit into the system really well,” he remarked, highlighting the improved camaraderie among the players. Valetini pointed out that the team feels more connected this year, thanks to an established understanding among returning players and the integration of talents from the academy.
Looking ahead, Valetini expressed eagerness for the upcoming match against the Fijian Drua on February 15th. He acknowledged the historical challenges Australian teams have faced in Fiji, stating, “Only six teams can make the finals, and I think probably one of my biggest games will come in round one in Fiji, which I don’t think any Australian teams won over there.” This upcoming clash presents a unique and exciting challenge for the Brumbies, emphasizing their need to perform at their best from the outset of the season.
The Brumbies’ first match will take place at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva, kicking off at 3:35 PM, and Valetini is keenly aware of the importance of starting strong in their campaign.
