Boxing Showdown: Australian Stars Set for Nadi Thrills!

Three prominent trainers from Australia are set to bring their boxers for the South Pacific Boxing Promotions event at Prince Charles Park in Nadi on Saturday, October 26. This announcement was made by IBO (International Boxing Organisation) Fight Commissioner Justin Kennedy.

Trainer Stephen Ng, representing Matrix Boxing, is preparing Lachlan O’Shea, who will face Winston Hill for the IBO Asia Pacific super welterweight title in the main event. In another matchup, knockout specialist Tonga Tongotongo, along with his trainer Stephen Pasras of Black Diamond Boxing and Fitness Centre, is gearing up to confront local fighter Sebastian ‘The Sniper’ Singh in a 10-round bout for the IBO Asia Pacific cruiserweight title. Tongotongo has an impressive record of winning all eight of his professional fights by knockout.

Additionally, Runqi Zhou from China, currently based in Australia and trained by renowned coach Angelo Hyder, will compete against Umbayd Haider for the IBO Oceania-Orient featherweight title in a 10-round contest. Kennedy noted the intriguing aspect of this fight, as Haider has previously trained under Hyder.

Hyder has a successful track record, having trained Australian boxers such as Danny Green, Vic Darchinyan, and Andrew Moloney to world titles in various weight classes. Kennedy confirmed that all IBO title fights for the event have been officially sanctioned, with SPBP director Mohammed Shameem covering the sanctioning fees, as well as the travel and accommodation expenses for the fighters, trainers, and officials involved.
