Vilimoni Botitu, the gold medallist from the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, has decided to extend his contract with the French Top 14 club Castres Olympique until 2026. The 26-year-old utility back, who has made significant contributions to the team since joining in 2020, has appeared in 94 matches and earned 17 Test caps for the Flying Fijians.

In expressing his reasons for the extension, Botitu stated, “I decided to stay because I am very happy at Castres. The club is like a family to me. It has given me opportunities and I like the group that helps each other on and off the pitch.” His sentiment highlights the strong camaraderie and support within the team, attributing their collective effort for success rather than individual accolades. Despite extending his contract for just one season for family reasons, Botitu remains optimistic about achieving further milestones with Castres.

This decision provides an encouraging perspective on Botitu’s career, emphasizing the importance of both personal fulfillment and team connection in professional sports. His continued presence in the squad is likely to inspire teammates and contribute to the club’s ambitions in the coming years.
