A slow-moving trough of low pressure west of the Fiji group, coupled with a moist east to northeast wind flow, will keep much of the country unsettled through Monday and into Tuesday. Showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected in the affected areas, with isolated heavy falls most likely in the afternoon and evening and a risk of localised flash flooding in low-lying and flood-prone places.
Occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms are forecast to midnight tomorrow for Coastal Seru‑Namosi, Greater Suva/Nausori‑Tailevu, interior Serua‑Namosi/Naitasiri, interior Ba and Nadroga/Navosa, interior Ra/Rakiraki, southern Bua and Cakaudrove provinces, the Lomaiviti group, central and southern Lau, the Moala group, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands. Elsewhere conditions will be partly cloudy with isolated brief showers and possible afternoon or evening thunderstorms. Isolated heavy falls are expected, especially late in the day.
Winds will remain moderate from the east to northeast with moderate to rough seas in the overnight period. Rotuma remains affected by a trough as well, with occasional heavy showers and a few thunderstorms, accompanied by moderate easterly winds and moderate seas.
Looking ahead to Tuesday, expect cloudy periods with some showers and a chance of isolated thunderstorms and heavy falls over Serua‑Namosi, Navua‑Suva‑Nausori, Tailevu‑Naitasiri, Ra‑Rakiraki, Kadavu and nearby islands, southern Bua and Cakaudrove, Taveuni and nearby islands, and the Lau and Lomaiviti groups. Elsewhere conditions should be generally fine apart from possible afternoon or evening showers. Winds are expected to be moderate easterlies with moderate seas.
Local notes: Navua/Suva/Nausori will see occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms with daytime maximum around 31°C and a low near 23°C. Nadi/Lautoka/Ba and Tavua/Rakiraki can expect partly cloudy skies with isolated afternoon or evening storms and daytime highs near 32°C. Labasa’s minimum is around 21°C with a daytime maximum near 32°C. Temperatures elsewhere generally range from about 21–24°C overnight to 30–33°C by day. Residents in low‑lying and flood‑prone areas should be prepared for sudden heavy downpours and possible flash flooding, and mariners should take care in moderate to rough sea conditions.
