A routine trip to Nadi International Airport turned into a remarkable day for Luke Nabaro when he met his rugby idol, Tana Umaga, for the first time. Nabaro was strolling through the International Arrivals area when he unexpectedly encountered the Moana Pasifika head coach and former All Blacks star.

Umaga arrived in Nadi ahead of his team’s Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific opener against the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua. Recognizing a golden opportunity, Nabaro approached Umaga and requested a photo, cherishing the encounter as a once-in-a-lifetime event.

An enthusiastic supporter of the All Blacks for over 20 years, Nabaro considers Umaga among the greatest players ever to play in the center position. “I’ve been a fan of his for more than 20 years; he was a very talented player, and I’d rank him as one of the best players ever to play in the centre position. I’m just happy and thankful that I got to meet him,” he expressed.

Excited for the upcoming match, Nabaro hopes to attend Saturday’s game between the Drua and Moana Pasifika at Churchill Park. The anticipation builds as the match is set to kick off at 3:30 PM. This delightful encounter not only highlights the connection between fans and players but also adds to the excitement surrounding the Super Rugby Pacific season.
