A weak trough of low pressure is affecting the eastern parts of Fiji while an easterly wind flow prevails across the group, according to the National Weather Forecasting Centre bulletin issued from Nadi at 7:30pm on Tuesday 14 April 2026. This pattern will bring cloudy periods and showers to the eastern islands and pockets of heavy rain at times, while much of the rest of the country stays largely fine apart from the usual afternoon and evening showers.

Through to midnight tomorrow, Serua‑Namosi, Navua‑Suva‑Nausori, Tailevu‑Naitasiri‑Ra, eastern Macuata, Cakaudrove, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands can expect cloudy periods with some showers and isolated heavy falls. Showers over these areas are expected to become occasional from tomorrow. Elsewhere across the group conditions will generally be fine aside from afternoon or evening showers; thunderstorms with heavy falls are likely in the afternoon and evening over parts of the main islands.

There is a risk of localised heavy falls leading to flash flooding of low‑lying and flood‑prone areas, so residents in susceptible locations should remain alert to rapidly changing conditions. Winds are forecast to be moderate to fresh easterlies tonight, easing to moderate from tomorrow. Seas are currently moderate to rough and are expected to become moderate from tomorrow.

Localised forecasts remain consistent with these trends. Navua/Suva/Nausori and Natadradave/Korovou: cloudy periods with some showers and isolated heavy falls, thunderstorms possible; tomorrow’s range 23–30°C and a similar outlook for Thursday. Nadi/Lautoka/Ba, Tavua/Rakiraki and Labasa: generally fine apart from afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms; Nadi/Lautoka/Ba and Tavua/Rakiraki up to 33°C tomorrow, Labasa up to 33°C as well. Sigatoka/Coral Coast: fine apart from afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms, 23–32°C tomorrow. Yasawa/Mamanuca will be mainly fine with temperatures around 23–31°C.

Outlying and eastern island groups are likely to see the more unsettled weather. Savusavu, Taveuni, the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, and Kadavu can expect cloudy periods with showers and isolated heavy falls, with showers becoming more occasional from tomorrow; typical temperatures are around 23–30°C. Rotuma remains under the influence of the weak trough with cloudy periods, some showers and isolated thunderstorms, moderate to fresh easterly winds and moderate to rough seas; temperatures around 24–32°C with a similar outlook for Thursday.
