Michael Tugaga, a 14-year-old student at Marist Brothers High School, is making headlines for his remarkable academic achievements. The school recently held its annual academic excellence induction ceremony at Lambert Hall, where Michael was recognized among 93 students for his exceptional dedication and performance in the classroom.

Hailing from Navolau, Viria in Naitasiri, with family roots in Qoma, Namena in Tailevu, Tugaga scored an impressive 580 out of 600 in his mid-year examination, showcasing his commitment to excellence. As a Year 9 student, he also excelled in Business Administration and Agriculture, topping both subjects.

Michael, who dreams of becoming a pilot, shared his motivation by stating, “I always look up at the sky and imagine myself flying.” He remains humble, expressing that the award represents just the beginning of his journey: “I know I have a long way to go, but I’m ready for the challenge.” He attributes much of his success to the unwavering support of his teachers and family, saying, “My parents have always told me: if you work hard, your dreams will take flight.”

In addition to his personal aspirations, Michael is driven by the desire to uplift others in his community. He hopes to inspire his peers and relatives in Navolau and Qoma, demonstrating that they too can achieve their dreams.

The event was graced by Chief Guest Aseri Radrodro, the Minister for Education, who praised the students’ achievements and reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to ensuring that no student is left behind.
