Students from Vuda District School experienced an unforgettable day at the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua headquarters as part of the Anchor programme. The visit allowed these young rugby fans, aged nine to twelve, to interact with their rugby idols, leaving them brimming with excitement and inspiration.

Teacher David Tuicolo shared his appreciation for the opportunity, emphasizing the significance of the experience. “We are happy to come to the Drua headquarters, and we thank you for this opportunity. We only watch the team on TV, but to be here in person is a special experience,” he remarked.

The visit was made even more special by appearances from Drua players Phillip Baselala and Sailosi Vukalokalo, who engaged with the students and imparted words of encouragement. Vukalokalo, a testament to hard work and dedication after rising through the ranks of Nasinu Kaji Rugby, served as an inspiring role model, demonstrating the possibilities available to young athletes.

Tuicolo expressed his belief that the visit would have a long-lasting impact on the students, stating, “This will encourage and motivate our kids in Kaji Rugby. Knowing that Sailosi himself is a product of grassroots rugby gives them hope that they, too, can reach great heights.”

This event not only fosters a deeper connection between the young players and their sporting heroes but also instills a sense of determination, showing the importance of community, perseverance, and the rewards of hard work in pursuing one’s dreams.
