As Extra Bula FC gears up for the second round of the OFC Professional League, head coach Stéphane Auvray is filled with optimism regarding the debut of veteran player Christopher Wasasala. Auvray highlighted Wasasala’s potential impact on the team, stating, “What he brings to the team is a lot of energy, a positive attitude, and as a player, his unique ability will provide us with numerous options.”
The coach is eager to see how Wasasala will contribute, expressing hope that he will quickly become a cornerstone of the team’s strategy. With a demanding schedule that includes three matches within a week, Auvray emphasized the necessity for all players to receive game time, stating that it will allow them to showcase their skills and contributions.
Auvray’s vision extends beyond individual performances; he underlined the significance of cultivating a strong team identity early in the season. “It’s important because then we can start looking at the future, knowing the basis, and really focus on winning games and our ambition to go as far as possible in the OFC Pro League,” he articulated.
Acknowledging the challenges that come with competition, he stressed the importance of maintaining consistency amidst the inevitable ups and downs that teams face over the course of a season. Auvray expressed unwavering confidence in his squad’s professionalism and dedication, stating, “I’m a firm believer that if you meet the right players, you don’t have to motivate them.”
Instead of focusing on motivation, Auvray sees his role as one of challenging the players to prevent them from becoming complacent. “Do I have to challenge the players to make sure that they are never in a comfort zone? Yes. But motivate the player? If I must do this, this may be a problem with my team,” he remarked.
Extra Bula FC is set to begin the second round of the OFC Professional League with a match against Solomon King FC today at 3:30 pm (Fiji Time) at the Santos Football National Stadium in Papua New Guinea. The upcoming match represents a fresh opportunity for the team to build momentum and establish their competitive edge in the league.
