The TEMC Warriors men’s rugby team celebrated a stunning victory in the men’s elimination rounds of the Fiji Bitter Nawaka 7s, triumphing over the defending champions, DXC Army Green, with a score of 19-14 at Prince Charles Park in Nadi. The match was a gripping contest that included two extra-time sessions, showcasing the fierce determination and resilience of both teams.

After the win, team coach David Dakuitoga expressed his pride, emphasizing the importance of overcoming the defending champions. “Defending champions is not a name tag; they are preparing hard to take it home again. I think it’s some supernatural stuff happening, a divine intervention happening in there that we cannot control,” he said, reflecting on the emotional intensity of the game.

Looking ahead, Dakuitoga highlighted the need to focus on the fundamentals of the game. “We’ll stick back to basics. There’s some really easy way to do things; we worked a bit harder to actually get the win. If we would have been smarter in our basics in the first place, I think it would have been an easier effort,” he noted. His strategy for future matches includes reinforcing their defensive play and maintaining the structures they’ve developed.

Earlier in the tournament, the Warriors also delivered a solid performance against the Kavala Bay Babas, winning 19-5, which further underscored their developing skills and teamwork on the field.

This impressive victory not only highlights the warriors’ determination but also offers a hopeful outlook for the remainder of the tournament. Their continuous dedication to improvement and teamwork is expected to lead to even more significant successes. Fans are encouraged to stay optimistic as the Warriors build on lessons from their previous matches, embodying the spirit of Fijian rugby. The commitment and collective effort of the team serve as a testament to the strength and resilience of their approach to the tournament.
