Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Communications Manoa Kamikamica is slated to deliver a Ministerial Statement this morning in Parliament regarding the Technical and Financial Investigation of Walesi PTE Limited. In a recent conversation with FijiLive, Kamikamica revealed that the report from the Office of the Auditor-General will be presented to Cabinet for review before being submitted to Parliament.

This report, which was made public last month, addresses key findings related to Walesi’s operations. Kamikamica further indicated that the conclusions of the report may lead to a submission to the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption, depending on its findings. Notably, he highlighted that a total of $125.6 million has been invested since 2015 in establishing and launching the satellite digital television platform.

This investigation and report may serve as a pivotal step towards greater transparency in public expenditure and reinforce accountability in governmental projects. It presents an opportunity for improved oversight and potentially enhances the integrity of future investments in technology and services for citizens.

Overall, the forthcoming discussion in Parliament signifies a commitment to maintaining transparency and addressing any issues that may arise from the report’s findings.
